Question 1

How often should I service my Land Rover?

Accepted Answer

Land Rover recommends servicing every 12 months or every 15,000–21,000 miles depending on the model and engine. Older models such as the Defender and Discovery 1 and 2 benefit from more frequent oil changes — every 6,000 miles — due to their engine design. We will advise you on the correct service interval for your specific vehicle when you call.

Question 2

What is included in a full service?

Accepted Answer

A full service typically includes an engine oil and filter change, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, spark plugs (petrol), brake fluid check, coolant check, all fluid top-ups, full visual inspection of brakes, suspension, steering, tyres, lights and exhaust, plus a road test. We tailor the service to your vehicle's age, mileage and service history.

Question 3

Can you service my Land Rover without voiding the warranty?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Under EU and UK block exemption regulations, you are entitled to have your vehicle serviced by an independent specialist without voiding the manufacturer warranty, provided genuine or equivalent quality parts are used and the service is carried out to manufacturer specification. We use quality parts and stamp your service book accordingly.

Question 4

Do you service all Land Rover and Range Rover models?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We service all Land Rover and Range Rover models including the Defender (90, 110, 130), Discovery 1, 2, 3, 4 and Discovery Sport, Freelander 1 and 2, Range Rover Classic, Range Rover L322, Range Rover L405, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Velar.

Question 5

How much does a Land Rover service cost?

Accepted Answer

Service costs vary depending on the model, engine, age and what the vehicle requires. As an independent specialist we are significantly cheaper than a main dealer while using the same quality parts and procedures. Call us on 01438 869432 for a quote specific to your vehicle.

Question 6

My engine management light is on — what should I do?

Accepted Answer

Don't ignore it. The engine management light (also called the check engine light) indicates a fault has been detected by the vehicle's ECU. It could be something minor like a faulty sensor, or something more serious. We use specialist Land Rover diagnostic equipment to read the fault codes and identify the exact cause. Call us and we'll advise whether it's safe to drive.

Question 7

Can you diagnose Land Rover faults with specialist equipment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We use professional Land Rover diagnostic equipment capable of reading all fault codes across all systems — engine, gearbox, ABS, airbags, suspension, body control and more. Generic OBD readers used by many garages only read basic engine codes and miss the majority of Land Rover faults.

Question 8

My Range Rover has a suspension warning light — is it safe to drive?

Accepted Answer

A suspension warning light on a Range Rover usually indicates an air suspension fault. In many cases the vehicle will lower itself to a fixed ride height and disable the air suspension. It is generally safe to drive short distances at reduced speed, but you should not drive long distances or at motorway speeds. Call us as soon as possible for diagnosis.

Question 9

What does a DPF warning light mean?

Accepted Answer

The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) warning light means the filter is becoming blocked with soot. This is common on Land Rovers and Range Rovers used mainly for short journeys. In some cases a longer motorway drive will allow the filter to regenerate automatically. If the light remains on, the filter may need a forced regeneration or replacement. We diagnose and resolve all DPF issues.

Question 10

How much does Range Rover air suspension repair cost?

Accepted Answer

The cost depends on which component has failed — air compressor, air bags, height sensors or the control module. Air compressor replacement is the most common repair. As an independent specialist we offer competitive pricing compared to main dealers. Call us on 01438 869432 with your registration and we'll give you a quote.

Question 11

How often does the Freelander 2 Haldex need servicing?

Accepted Answer

The Freelander 2 Haldex coupling should be serviced every 40,000 miles or every 4 years, whichever comes first. Many owners are unaware of this requirement. A neglected Haldex unit will eventually fail, causing loss of 4WD and potentially expensive drivetrain damage. We carry out Haldex oil changes and full Haldex repairs.

Question 12

My Land Rover is making a knocking noise from the suspension — what could it be?

Accepted Answer

Suspension knocking on Land Rovers is commonly caused by worn anti-roll bar drop links, worn ball joints, worn shock absorbers or worn steering rack bushes. Discovery 3 and 4 models are particularly prone to front lower ball joint wear. We carry out a full suspension inspection and will identify the exact cause before carrying out any repairs.

Question 13

Do you carry out timing belt replacements on Land Rovers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Timing belt (cambelt) replacement is a critical maintenance item on many Land Rover engines. Failure to replace the timing belt at the correct interval can result in catastrophic engine damage. We carry out timing belt replacements on all Land Rover and Range Rover models and will advise you on the correct replacement interval for your engine.

Question 14

Can you repair Land Rover gearboxes and transfer boxes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We repair and recondition Land Rover and Range Rover gearboxes, transfer boxes, differentials and propshafts. Common symptoms of gearbox problems include slipping, jumping out of gear, noisy operation and difficulty selecting gears. Call us to discuss your symptoms and we'll advise on the best course of action.

Question 15

Do you use genuine Land Rover parts?

Accepted Answer

We use a combination of genuine Land Rover parts, quality OEM equivalent parts and trusted aftermarket brands including Britpart, Allmakes 4x4 and Terrafirma. We will always advise you on the best parts option for your vehicle and budget. For some repairs, genuine parts are essential — for others, quality aftermarket parts offer excellent value.

Question 16

Can I supply my own parts?

Accepted Answer

In some cases yes, but we cannot offer a warranty on parts you supply yourself. We also cannot be responsible for the quality or suitability of customer-supplied parts. We recommend letting us source the parts to ensure the correct specification and quality for your vehicle.

Question 17

Do you sell Land Rover parts directly?
